MT-06 Bacterial Turbidimeter

Portable turbidimeter that measures bacterial suspensions in McFarland units, for standardising the inoculum before ID and susceptibility testing.

MT-06 Bacterial TurbidimeterMT-06

Overview

The MT-06 measures the density of a bacterial suspension in McFarland units, the standard used to prepare the inoculum for identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Getting that density right is what makes MIC results reproducible: too heavy an inoculum reads as false resistance, and too light as false susceptibility. The MT-06 replaces comparing tubes by eye against a printed McFarland card.

Light from the source scatters off bacterial particles in the tube, and the photodetector signal is processed and shown on the display across a range of 0 to 4 McF. Automatic calibration keeps readings accurate, disposable bacterial suspension tubes keep running costs low, and the unit is small enough to sit beside the biosafety cabinet. It is used with the MA120 ID/AST system and for manual disc diffusion.

Medix East Africa supplies the MT-06 Bacterial Turbidimeter with pre-installation site assessment, delivery, installation and commissioning by our own biomedical engineers, and acceptance testing before handover. Operator training is delivered to the staff who will use it day to day, and technical training is available for your biomedical department.

After handover we hold genuine spare parts for the equipment we supply, run preventive maintenance under annual contract, and respond to faults across Kenya and the wider East African region. Pricing is issued by formal quotation, because it depends on configuration, quantity, delivery terms and warranty.
