MA120 Microbial ID/AST System

Automated microbial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing, reporting organism ID and true MIC values from one 120-well test plate.

MA120 Microbial ID/AST SystemMA120

Overview

The MA120 automates the two questions a microbiology laboratory answers for every clinical isolate: what the organism is, and which antibiotics will work against it. Each 120-well test plate combines 24 identification wells, read by colorimetry, with 96 susceptibility wells, read by turbidity, so identification and AST come from a single inoculation. The system reports true minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) and interprets them against current CLSI and EUCAST breakpoints.

Test plates are available for Enterobacteriaceae, non-fermenting Gram-negative bacilli, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus/Enterococcus and fungi, with an identification database of up to 1,000 organisms and up to 200 antibiotics. Plates are prepared with the automated inoculation delivery system (auto-sampling tool), which dispenses the standardised suspension into the wells and cuts hands-on time, and the MT-06 turbidimeter sets the inoculum density. The analyser comes with a plate loader, a 10-inch monitor and the MA120 software, with bidirectional LIS connection. Standardised MIC results support antimicrobial stewardship and resistance surveillance.

Medix East Africa supplies the MA120 Microbial ID/AST System with pre-installation site assessment, delivery, installation and commissioning by our own biomedical engineers, and acceptance testing before handover. Operator training is delivered to the staff who will use it day to day, and technical training is available for your biomedical department.

After handover we hold genuine spare parts for the equipment we supply, run preventive maintenance under annual contract, and respond to faults across Kenya and the wider East African region. Pricing is issued by formal quotation, because it depends on configuration, quantity, delivery terms and warranty.

Yes. Medix biomedical engineers carry out site assessment before delivery, install and commission the equipment on site, run acceptance testing, and hand over with documentation. Installation is part of the supply for major equipment rather than a separate charge.
Yes. Operator training for the clinical staff who will use the equipment is delivered at handover, and technical training is available for your in-house biomedical department. Refresher training can be arranged when new staff join.
Yes. Medix holds genuine spare parts for the MA120 Microbial ID/AST System locally and provides preventive maintenance, corrective repairs and calibration support through its in-house biomedical engineering team. Annual maintenance contracts are available covering scheduled visits, priority response and agreed parts terms.
Lead time depends on whether the configuration is held in local stock or ordered from the manufacturer. Confirmed lead times are stated on every formal quotation, and delivery scheduling is agreed with your facility in advance so that installation can be planned around theatre or laboratory workload.
