This test plate performs identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (ID/AST) of Enterobacteriaceae, the Gram-negative family that includes E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter and Proteus and causes most urinary, abdominal and bloodstream infections in one run on the MA120 system. Its 120 wells hold 24 dehydrated identification substrates, read by colour change, and 96 susceptibility wells containing antibiotics at doubling dilutions, read by turbidity, so the laboratory gets the organism name and a true MIC for each drug from a single inoculation.
The plate is inoculated with a suspension standardised on the MT-06 turbidimeter, filled by the automated inoculation delivery system, incubated, and read on the MA120, which interprets MICs against CLSI and EUCAST breakpoints. Each plate is individually sealed as one test per pack and CE marked.
